Hello there, if you are here and reading this- I appreciate you taking out time to know my story and giving me the power to manage my narrative.

So I’ll be quick. Since I value your time as well (hehe).

I started out in the field of mental health and psychology way back in school where I enjoyed reading about human behaviour, how it functions, how it gets motivated, how it emotes and how it becomes dysfunctional as well. I had no idea about where I’d be 5 or 10 years from then (2014).

In 2016, I was fortunate enough to be accepted into a well-respected Psychology program at the University of Delhi. For the next three years, I delved deeply into the fascinating world of psychology, exploring its rich history and intricacies. This journey wasn't just about understanding human behavior; it also fostered a profound sense of self-awareness within me. In today's complex world, I believe self-awareness is an incredibly powerful tool, especially when everyone is so prone to stressors and finds themselves lost in the labyrinth of unwanted thoughts and emotions.

I decided to hone my empathy and counseling skills better and got myself enrolled in a very good college for Masters in Applied Psychology. In my 5 year journey as a student, I immersed myself in a diverse community with people from different familial backgrounds, economic backgrounds, geographical backgrounds and cultural backgrounds. It made me learn the skill of learning about other people better. To complement my academic studies, I sought out practical experience in various settings. I interned at hospitals, community settings, and prison settings and even worked at an NGO that teaches underprivileged kids at shelter homes. These internships grounded me in the realities of the field, making me a well-rounded and "on-the-ground" practitioner.

I cultivated the capacity to not just hear but listen to what people need and get motivated by.

My first professional role as a therapist at a mental health startup in India proved to be a valuable learning experience. It provided deep insight into the realities of mental health care, but also revealed my growing fascination with the company's mental health app and its positive impact on users. This sparked a career shift: I transitioned to the product team (2022). I had the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group – product managers, designers, user researchers, content writers, engineers, voice artists – the entire product development ecosystem. This exposure was pivotal in shaping my career trajectory.

Contributing to UX flows, crafting UX copy, and managing projects within the product team ignited my passion for user experience (UX). I actively sought out conversations with the UX designers and user researchers there. This allowed me to gain invaluable insights into their thought processes – I learned about how they think of the application, how they decide, and how they create.

I, then told myself:

I really wanna do this for real. I wanna get into UX.
